Archive: Duke - Team Commander (Jungle Assault)

April 22, 2011

Duke was released in the summer of 2010 as part of the first wave of figures in the Pursuit of Cobra line. The Pursuit of Cobra line features environment-themed missions in which the G.I. Joe team pursues Cobra operatives to the ends of the earth. As part of the Jungle Assault mission theme, a team led by Duke discovers a heavily fortified Cobra fortress, the Terror Drome, in a remote jungle.

Although originally designed and revealed with Channing Tatum's likeness, Duke was produced with a newly sculpted head. The change is widely regarded as Hasbro’s means of differentiating the Pursuit of Cobra line from the Rise of Cobra, which received generally negative reviews from film critics and was performing sluggishly among kids and collectors in the toy isles.

POC is just starting to arrived here in the Philippines, I just saw Beach Head at a local toy store. I really want this figure since I first saw this. It was a good thing they changed the head from channing's mug. I hope Hasbro would continue this line of design, they really don't have to develop new characters but update the old ones. There are still a lot more characters that can take this treatment.

About the photos, they look really great, but can you please try one with white background? Thanks, God bless.

Glad you're finally receiving them and it's good timing as out guide will be a good way for you to see what each figure has to offer and decide if it's worth adding to your collection. Our goal is to have a new entry each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Unfortunately, we tried a white background and weren't satisfied with the quality. Our tungsten studio lights coupled with the background paper was producing a yellow hue that was difficult to remove, even in post-production. We're looking into upgrading our lighting in the coming months, at which time we'll revisit the possibility of using the white background.

I'm really looking forward to the white background. The catch light has a blue hue and its affecting the colors of the figure. A suggestion please also add more close up shots to see the details more. And also you could add a poll to see other fan's rating.

I really like the clean blue layout of your site. It is better than G.I Joe clubs layout, it looks more for old people.

We are striving to ensure that every photograph depicts each figure's colors accurately, but see where the blue background influences a highlight or shadow from time to time. We'll try to correct that moving forward.

Also, for highly detailed versions of our gallery photos, be sure to check out our flickr photostream. The photos on flickr are stored at a higher resolution then the ones on the site (for site performance purposes). Most of the photos on flickr are a minimum 2000x1328 pixels so you'll be able to zoom in and see every bit of detail on each figure.

We love the idea of a ratings system and will research the best way to implement this feature. Thanks for all your great feedback!
