Destro was released in the fall of 2010 as part of the second wave of figures in the Pursuit of Cobra line. The Pursuit of Cobra line features environment-themed missions in which the G.I. Joe team pursues Cobra operatives to the ends of the earth. As part of the Arctic Threat mission theme, the G.I. Joe team breaks into a Cobra manufacturing plant--in Greenland--hiding a powerful new Cobra technology.
Destro's backpack has a button activated feature that shoots water through a hose connected to his ice blaster. Two ice particles, which fit over most G.I. Joe figures, are intended to replicate the weapon's capability to freeze enemies in their tracks. The condensation build up on Destro's chrome mask is a first for any Destro figure, but it comes at a price. If you leave the goggles on Destro's head for an extended period of time, the white paint easily chips off when you remove them.
Release Date: 2010
Figure Number: 1012
Retail Price: $5.99
Accessories: parka, backpack with button-activated water feature, hose, ice blaster, pistol, ice drill, climbing picks (2), ice particles (2), goggles, display stand with Cobra logo (DESTRO)
Did You Know? Like many of the figures in the Pursuit of Cobra line, Destro underwent some pre-production design changes. The human eyes of actor Christopher Eccleston, who portrayed Destro in The Rise of Cobra, were changed to green, red trim was added to the once all gray jacket and a drill originally to be included with Snake Eyes (Desert Battle) was added. These subtle changes were made to add some variety to the all black costumes included with most figures in The Rise of Cobra line, which Hasbro realized made it difficult to differentiate between characters, especially for parents buying toys for their children.

Mission Equipment: A.M.M.O. Advance Marksman Multi-Optic Rifle
Destro supplies weapons to Cobra and designs highly advance weaponry that he sells to the highest bidder. He uses a frost cannon--his own creation, of course-- to flash-freeze ambushed G.I. Joe troopers during a battle at a Cobra manufacturing plant in a remote area of Greenland.

Have been in the ebay for at least 2 years now. I don't know why the production didn't make more of Alley viper instead of this figure.
A very nice update to a vintage figure, now where is arctic Cobra commander?
This figure is definitely one of the reasons we aren't seeing new waves hitting retail as quickly in the U.S. It's everywhere! It's a good figure, but it was overproduced. We'll have the City Strike version in the coming weeks, which uses a lot of the same pieces.
The Jungle Assault Cobra Commander is just starting to trickle out. Hopefully an Artic Threat version is not too far behind. Also wondering if the Artic Threat Duke sculpt will ever make it out in some form or another.
