Archive: Firefly - Cobra Saboteur (City Strike)

May 23, 2011

Firefly was released in the summer of 2010 as part of the first wave of figures in the Pursuit of Cobra line. The Pursuit of Cobra line features environment-themed missions in which the G.I. Joe team pursues Cobra operatives to the ends of the earth. As part of the City Strike mission theme, the G.I. Joe team stealthily infiltrates a Cobra warehouse, in an urban center, housing some of Destro's newest weaponry.

Firefly can be displayed as both an updated interpretation of the classic baklava-masked saboteur--as portrayed in the A Real American Hero canon--or as modern, urban, demolitions expert by using the included armored vest, arm shields, and alternate, armor-masked head.

Release Date:
Figure Number: 1008
Retail Price: $5.99
Accessories: armored vest, backpack with demolition charge storage pegs, demolition charge (2), assault rifle, pistol (2), arm shields, alternate armor-masked head, display stand with Cobra logo (FIREFLY)

Did You Know? Firefly's demolition chargers are commonly referred to as mines, however, this is technically incorrect. Mines--specifically landmines--are weight-triggered explosive devices, while Firefly's explosive charges are detonated by user initiation.

Mission Equipment: 360-SD Sonar Detection Helmet with 360-Degree Spectrum View

Firefly works for Cobra as a saboteur with expertise in explosives, espionage and silent infiltration. During the urban battle, he uses Multi-Resonance Structural Demolition (MRSD) Pods to collapse a building, trapping G.I. Joe team members inside. His titanium body armor and arm shields protect him from the blast.
