Cobra Commander was released in the Spring of 2011 as part of the fifth wave--which arrived at retail after wave six--of figures in the Pursuit of Cobra line. The Pursuit of Cobra line features environment-themed missions in which the G.I. Joe team pursues Cobra operatives to the ends of the earth. As part of the City Strike mission theme, the G.I. Joe team stealthily infiltrates a Cobra warehouse, in an urban center, housing some of Destro's newest weaponry.
When Hasbro unveiled its plans for the Pursuit of Cobra line, it envisioned the line as an off-screen extension to The Rise of Cobra movie. Initial prototypes of Cobra Commander were developed as part of the Jungle Assault theme and revealed with the often controversial film-style mask. When Hasbro abandoned the Pursuit of Cobra line's tie-in to The Rise of Cobra, Cobra Commander was put on hold. Then, as the Pursuit of Cobra line grew in popularity and subsequent waves of figures were developed, Hasbro salvaged the Jungle Assault Cobra Commander body and replaced the film-style mask with the classic and more recognizable animated/comic-style battle mask, re-branding the figure as City Strike Cobra Commander.

Did You Know? The clasp on Cobra Commander's cape was assembled upside-down and backwards, causing the chain to rest over the figure's mask and hiding the Cobra insignias on the lacers. This production error is easily remedied by carefully pulling the lacers through the cape holes (there is a tiny bit of glue holding the lacers in place) and switching the clasp to the proper position, as illustrated on the figure packaging.

We just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that we adjusted the large photos so that you can go through them without have to continually open and close them. They are now connected as a gallery in the light box and can be navigated using the prev and next links in the bottom right portion of the frame each enlarged photo.
I don't see myself buying this figure, a fail in my book. I'd rather have a business suit Cobra Commander or the arctic Cobra Commander.

Shadow Tracker is coming soon, but this is a really good figure! You may have to see it in person to appreciate it. The jacket is very well sculpted and although it's no Arctic Threat figure with winter parka, it's a pretty good figure all things considered.
Hi.I prefer Hooded Cobra Commander 84, 92 and 93 or G.I.JOE VS COBRA or Spy Tropper) but when I saw the Cobra Commander VALOR VS Venom in his Blanck Uniforme version seventeen 2004 I really like it but now I think Hasbro really do it something must better with this new Cobra Commander figure 2011. His Battle helmet is really Awesome!!!!. I'm in Uruguay but I go México soon I hope can buy throught Internet or in Walt Mart. The only that I'm not argree is that Cobra with black mask are called Cobra Trooper I prefer that called Cobra Code Name: The Enemy maintenance the tradition. Cobra Trooper for me have a red mask and are the grunt. Maybe is a stupid comentary. Always the new Cobra's figure are great.

I like Cobra Commander Chinsee carded with battle helmet is good also is clasic but compared with this new Cobra Commander 2011 I prefer this.
For me is the best Cobra Commander figure with batlle helmet. Including all accseories.

Francisco, This figure isn't as widely available as the new Renegades Cobra Commander figure (see link below), which, if you're in Mexico, may have a chance to buy at retail.
