Amazon.com's exclusive G.I. Joe: Retaliation sneak peek and G.I. Joe: Renegades figure four packs are now in stock and ready to ship. Each four pack is $39.99, includes two heroes and two villains with accessories. The Retaliation pack includes Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander, while the Renegades set comes with Snake Eyes, Duke, Storm Shadow and a Ninja-Viper and the listings show several user-submitted images of the sets.

The Techno-Viper was released in the winter of 2011 as part of the third wave of figures in the G.I. Joe 30th Anniversary line. The 30th Anniversary line celebrates 30 years since the release of the modern, 3-3/4-inch G.I. Joe action figure. As part of the celebration, Hasbro not only included figures of classic characters from the 1982 A Real American Hero comic and television series, but also those from the G.I. Joe: Renegades animated series.

If you venture into the toy isles of your local department store searching for a purple-colored anything, you'd be best served heading toward the girls' section. While purple isn't a common color in the color palette of action figures today, it fit right in to Hasbro's G.I. Joe 3-3/4-inch lineup 30 years ago, thanks in part to its uniquely diverse cast of characters. Each character had a persona, quirks and distinguishable features--such as a bright purple color scheme--that differentiated it from the others. While the purple on this modern homage to the Techno-Viper is more subdued than on its predecessor, it's still a fitting triubte. G.I. Joe is getting the social gaming treatment. Hasbro, today, announced G.I. Joe: Special Ops, an arena-based action / strategy game playable on Facebook and the Syfy Games Web site. Players build battalions comprised of fan favorite Joes and Cobras such as Duke; Flint; Snake Eyes; Cobra Commander; Destro; and--for the ladies--the Baroness, then seek and destroy their enemy. G.I. Joe: Special Ops launches June 29, in conjunction with the theatrical debut of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

G.I JoeCon 2012 Exclusive Box Set Daina Revealed

After a not subtle teaser, earlier this month, revealing the theme for this year's G.I. JoeCon box set, the G.I. Joe Collectors' Club has revealed photos of the first figure from the Oktober Guard set, Daina. Daina is based on the 25th Anniversary style, includes a sniper rifle, pistol and stand, and features a new headsculpt with removable pilots cowl. G.I. JoeCon runs June 8 - July 1 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans.

Sideshow-Style, Hasbro-Sized Environments

Collectors are notorious for wanting what they can't have. Many of us are spoiled by growing up in the golden era of toys where seven-foot aircraft carriers, floating hovercrafts and mobile command centers--capable of storing a battalion of your finest troops--were the norm.  While we get that occasional big-ticket item they're few and far between. Theme for G.I JoeCon 2012 Exclusive Box Set Confirmed

When the G.I. Joe Collectors' Club hints that it's going to feel like Oktober during this June's G.I. JoeCon, it can only mean one thing; the theme for this years 3-3/4-inch convention exclusive box set is the Oktober Guard.  If the pun doesn't convince you, the teaser illustration of comrade Daina all but confirms it. According to the club, this year's convention brochure, guest list and exclusives reveals are being finalized and should be announced over the next month. G.I. JoeCon runs June 8 - July 1 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans.

Review: Sideshow Collectibles' Rock 'N' Roll Sixth Scale Figure

Sideshow Collectibles recently released the twentieth sixth-scale figure in its G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line, Rock 'N' Roll.  Rock 'N' Roll was one of the original characters part of Hasbro's inaugural wave of 3-3/4-inch figures in 1982, which re-introduced G.I. Joe to a new generation of kids. Sideshow Collectibles has re-imagined that surf-loving, machine gunner with their own modern military twist, but does Sideshow's interpretation of Rock 'N' Roll have what it takes to hang ten?

G.I. Joe: Renegades Added to Netflix Instant Streaming

If you're a Netflix subscriber, you know the start of the month can be a double-edged sword. On one hand you can log into your account and be presently surprised at the new titles added the the instant streaming service, and on the other hand a movie you had lined up to watch later in the week has expired, disappearing from your instant queue into the abyss.
